1. Is your mask FFP2 or FFP3?
A: Respirator masks come in two types: FFP2 and FFP3, which filter up to 94% and 99% of particulate matter respectively. The more particles that need to be filtered, the more layers of filter material are required. Currently, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are only offering FFP2 masks to consumers.
2. How much protection does your FFP2 mask provide?
A: Not all masks are equally effective or suitable. Respirator masks like our FFP2 masks have more layers of filter material than surgical masks, meaning they can filter up to 94% of small droplet particles. Our FFP2 masks meet all the required filtration levels for masks and are effective in preventing viral infection. Multiple studies have demonstrated the protective effect of respirator masks with fine particulate filters. One study of 290 people showed that participants who wore masks around individuals infected with various respiratory viruses had a 60% to 80% lower risk of infection. This study analyzed virus transmission when a family member (typically a child) was infected with a virus causing cold or flu symptoms, and other family members wore masks around them.
